Air-Dry Clay Wishbone DIY

How To DIY Breakable Wishbones Using Air-Dry Clay | Thanksgiving DIY | by maritzagarcia.website

For those of you looking for a super easy and fun Thanksgiving DIY. I have one you won’t want to miss. All you will need is air-dry clay and wax paper to create these adorable Clay Wishbones. This year everyone seated around the table can actually partake in the tradition of breaking a wishbone. Okay, okay a fake clay wishbone -but a good looking one at that. Alright, enough. Let’s get started.

SUPPLIES

1. Air Dry Clay

2. Wax Paper TO Protect Work Surface

INSTRUCTIONS

Step ONE.

Place a piece of wax paper onto your work surface to keep your clay from sticking or damaging your work area.

Step Two

Take a few small pieces of Air-Dry Clay in assorted sizes and roll them individually in between your hands until you form little round ball shapes.

Step Three.

Once you have a few round Clay ball shapes (in assorted sizes), Take a clay ball and softly pinch the top of the clay ball until it resembles a rain drop. Next you will need to press your thumb into the center of your newly formed rain drop shape. Next press the center down until your clay ball looks like a deformed heart shape. Once you get to that point, you will work your fingers to create two long stems by pulling downward until you achieve the length you want. Now to create the curves of a realistic wishbone, gently mold the clay stems with your fingers by pushing upward in the center and softly tugging downward on the sides of the stems until you see a u-shape. Lastly press on the tips of your stems to finish creating your wishbone.

Step Four.

Place Your wishbone(s) on a cardboard sheet and let dry for 1 day at room temperature. Once your clay wishbones have completely dried, they are ready to be set out onto place settings as favors or hand them out to your guest to enjoy breaking after dinner.

I hope you have a chance to create and share this project with friends and family this year. Best part. No turkeys were harmed in the making.

As always. I really hope you'll give this DIY a try. Use hashtag knotjustpaperdiy to share via Instagram. Until next time friend. Happy crafting!
